Strangled Darlings begins to carve out a niche sub genre for themselves as Literary Doom & Groove Folk. Song subjects range from a musical adaptation of a Gabriel Garcia Marquez short story Blue Sailor to a lust soaked tour of carnie life in Georgia with the Devil herself no less in Circus. Serious song writing infuses every song though they not always with an irreverent tone like the song Sail Along about the return of a fatal cancer place an unblinking eye on the sadness that waits around every corner. The band again mixes genres placing more emphasis on groove with bassist/cellist Jess Anderly moving from violin. What emerges is a pastiche of the American pageant as told by a mad swamp preacher.
